Art and Culture

Women learn how to produce traditional art and craft, to collect materials on country and sew fabrics. This refines their artistic skills and helps develop confidence, workplace communication and project management, while maintaining culture, languages and arts on Bickerton Island.

Participants also learn to cook and prepare meals for themselves and their children which provides nutritious meals for them while they are undertaking activities.

Community Rejuvenation

Small construction projects which improve the amenity of the Community are undertaken in this activity. The projects are identified by stakeholders and the Community and include yard maintenance, road maintenance, relocation of wood piles, tractor slashing, heavy vehicle training, literacy and numeracy training and computer lessons.
