Education

For a child being funded to attend schooling “off-Eylandt”, and where the child (for whatever reason) misses flights to return to school, the Social Program can provide travel support if the request is accompanied by a completed Abstudy Fares Allowance Claim form.

• Student + 1 escort (includes escort return)
  Applicant must apply for Abstudy prior to their application. Applies to: students attending Boarding School at the commencement/beginning of the year only.
• Student + 2 escorts (includes escort return)
  Applies to: student participation in Graduation of final School year (College and/or University).
• Student only Applies to: Participation by the student as a representative of a State/National Sporting event.

Applies to: Contribution toward combined residential/boarding fees where the student remains in attendance at the School. Payment is to be made directly to the School for up to $2,000 per term. Annual payments will not exceed $8,000 (4 Term payments).

Cost of 1 x Summer uniform and 1 x Winter uniform prescribed by the School which generally each set includes: 2 x Shirts, 1 x Sport Polo, 2 x Shorts/Skirts, 1 x hat. Note: previous uniform costs have been up to $3,000 per annum (includes summer and winter).

Cost of one pair at approximately $100 (two pairs available each year if needed). Note: capped at $200 per student p.a.

Cost of one set comprising 2 x tops, 2 x Shorts/Skirts, 1 x sports shoes. Note: capped at $300 per student p.a.

Contribution toward school fees where the student remains in attendance at the School. Payment is to be made directly to the School for up to $1,000 per term. Annual payments will not exceed $4,000 (4 Term payments).

Applies to: Cost of morning tea and lunch for each attending day, per student. Daily cost is approximately $10 per student

Cost of school stationery, books and other essential learning equipment *Computer/laptop (quote to be submitted). Up to $1,000 per student.

Cost of extra tuition where the student remains in attendance at the School. Payment is to be made directly to the School each school term where extra tuition is required for up to $3,000 per year.

In addition to any other category where applicable the following is supported:

• Cost of fees for student representation at State/National sporting event, music lessons (incl. music equipment hire) other education related lessons offered by the School. Payable to School or official event organizer.

In addition to flight assistance calculated separately under EDU – Airfares:

• Cost of the Graduation dinner for the Student + 2 escorts. Payable to event organizer.
• Cost of accommodation for 2 escorts to attend the graduation ceremony and graduation dinner for up to 4 nights’ accommodation. Payable to accommodation venue.

Capped at $5,000 per student

Students attending School. Each School must provide an application to the Social Program with supporting evidence, student names, full costs of excursion/camp, requested contribution amount per person. Payment made for participating students only. Note: Financial assistance will not be provided for on-Eylandt excursions and camps.

Up to $750 allowed across following items as required: toiletries, church clothing, bedding, etc. paid at the beginning of each year.

Requests must be linked to educational outcomes where education remains a positive and essential focus for the students’ future. Note: Consideration will be made to assist with other transport and accommodation where necessary.

School Photos – up to $100 per student/year
Short term study allowance – covers study facility crèche fees only.
Payment to be made directly to crèche. Advice must be received re course dates.
